The new space recently designed by architects Paloma Hernaiz and Jaime Oliver of OHLAB for the legendary Relojería Alemana has recently opened in the historic center of Palma de Mallorca.

The interior of the void is occupied by four sculptural volumes housing the store’s program: the Rolex area on the ground floor; a private bar on the first floor; a lounge and exhibition space on the top floor; and the fourth volume, which is the vertical circulation core with an elevator and stairs connecting all floors down to the basement.

The basement includes a back office area with an office, workshop, kitchen, bathroom, and vault. The four large volumes are clad in stainless steel with a mirror‑chrome finish.

The steel panels are cut with a wavy pattern, creating subtle surface deformations that produce a slightly distorted reflected image.
The project reflects on the world of luxury, proposing a play of illusion and appearances—where things seem to be what they are not—in which simple, orthogonal boxes appear wavy and distorted, sometimes disappearing as they are camouflaged by kaleidoscopic reflections, while the historic city surroundings (recently transformed into an exclusive and trendy area) are reflected as fragmented, ever‑changing, and unpredictable.
Each of the volumes has a completely different interior, contrasting with the uniform exterior cladding. These interior spaces result from experimenting with the deformations of different materials to create a series of engaging textures that invite visitors to enter and touch. The ceiling and walls of the three‑story space surrounding the volumes are clad in a stretched, matte, translucent white textile that provides even and intense lighting, avoiding reflections on the silver boxes while emphasizing their distorted effects.
The result is a collection of abstract sculptural pieces that reflect an illusory image.

The store is located in a three‑story standalone pavilion of an iconic building in Palma. It occupies 180 m² across three levels and includes a Rolex store on the ground floor. While rigorously respecting the historic façade, the interior has been completely restructured by removing the intermediate floor to connect the different levels above the street and provide a majestic 14‑meter ceiling height at the store entrance.
