Encubrimientos is the exhibition presented by the Instituto Cervantes from June 11 to September 12, 2010, at its headquarters as part of PhotoEspaña. The curators of the show, Alejandro Castellote and Juan Antonio Molina, chose the title as the antonym of “Discoveries” to avoid the temptation of rediscovering Latin American photography and to highlight the partiality involved in interpreting its reality through the perspectives of ten artists.
OHLAB collaborated on the exhibition design with IS Creative Studio / Richars Meza, who were responsible for the graphics and signage. Using the concept of “Encubrimientos,” the exhibition hall at the Instituto Cervantes headquarters was transformed to create a dark atmosphere by painting the walls and floor gray and using a black tape as a structural element that covers and envelops the exhibition path. The signage is made of lenticular material that conceals or reveals different images depending on the viewing angle.
